to get it?
We ship everything by UPS, our standard shipping is second day delivery. All packages
are signature required. If you are not home or at the office, a note will be left with a

3. How do I return a product?
Please call us at 1800 556 4490 and let the customer service representative know the
reason for your return. Once we determine that we can not help you on the phone we will
ask you to send the product back with the original receipt, or a copy of it. Please write
a note about the problem experienced and tell us whether you want an exchange or a refund.
For a refund, we expect that you will send the product back within seven business days of
the date you received the product.
Before calling we suggest:
· Charging the battery (if you bought a
laptop or a battery) for 24 hours, even when the indicator shows that is fully charged. |
· Try to fit the battery or the part in
your computer even if it has a different part number than the original one. Manufacturers
often change the part numbers and the color on certain parts |
· If you bought a modem or a network
card, please contact your Internet service provider, or network specialist for
configuration. |
· If you bought a PCMCIA DVD or CD-ROM,
make sure you powered on the unit. Some of these units need an AC Adapter connection or
batteries. Read the booklet! |
· Most docking stations and port
replicator require AC Power to work! |
· If you bought a floppy or a CD ROM
drive, you will need a floppy disk or a CD ROM disk to make it work. |
· If you bought a Hard disk, remember
that is a BLANK hard disk and you need an operating system to boot up. See the
instruction sheet that came with it.

4. What is the difference between a Li
ION battery and a NI MH battery?
"Li ION" stands for Lithium Ion and is the most advanced battery technology
available to consumers today. Li-Ion
batteries are 50% lighter than the NI MH (Nickel Metal Hybrid) batteries and will run your
device about 50% longer. As expected Li Ion Batteries are more expensive, having higher
engineering costs.
Can you choose what battery chemistry you would like to purchase?
Most of the time you can not. Most laptops have been designed for only one type of battery
chemistry. However some models can take
either kind (LI ION or NI MH).
Here are
some of the laptop models which accept both LI ION and NI MH batteries:
Compaq
Presario 1200, 1600 and 1800 series
Compaq
Armada 1500 series
IBM Thinkpad 390
series
IBM Thinkpad I
Series 1700
NEC Versa 2600
NEC Ready Laptops
All the
other models use one specific battery chemistry and can not be replaced with the other.

5. What is a Refurbished battery?
Which parts are new and which are refurbished?
Our company at times carries Refurbished products. These products are described
accordingly on our site with the word "Refurbished" in the description. In the case of batteries, that means that they are
used batteries, that have been tested to hold a minimum of 80% of the original capacity.
Many of them will hold close to 100% of capacity, but we still disclose them as
refurbished. These products are sold at reduced prices, 30% to 50% off the regular prices.
Some products we have we carry only as Refurbished because the manufacturers do not make
them anymore. All refurbished products carry a 90 day warranty.

6. Why do you have my
battery under a different part number?
7. Why are some batteries displayed with several part numbers on your
site?
Many
customers found their part on our website, but when they compare part numbers with their
original parts, they found a mismatch. Not a reason to worry, we keep very accurate
records on what parts fits what model.
The reason you find a different part number (or several) is that some manufacturers will
change the part number on the same product periodically. This is based on the date of
manufacture, the factory, and country that makes it, and other reasons beyond our control.
IBM and Compaq are notorious for changing part numbers a lot.
An example:
"Laptop
battery for IBM ThinkPad 770, 770E, 770D, 770ED,
Lithium Ion, FRU 12J0433 or ASM 83H6193.
Replacement battery is 83H6738 compatible with 02K7019
02K6508 02K6488"
All these
part numbers refer to the same battery pack. Just click "Order" at the button
and we'll make sure we send you the correct one for your machine.
If you
suspect a mistake in our database please email mitch@Laptopsforless.com

8. Are the batteries charged when they
come? How do I charge it?
The battery or batteries you receive are not charged. We carry thousands in stock and
they can sit on the shelf for as long as a few weeks before shipping.
To charge your battery, please put it in the laptop and connect the laptop to AC Power
(Wall plug). Most laptops have an LED that
will indicate that the battery is charging. See your user manual for the laptop if you are
not familiar with this feature.
We recommend that you leave the battery to charge overnight for the first time, even if
the user manual indicates that the charging time is 3 to 4 hours.

9. Why are some parts so expensive?
Most of our parts are proprietary to certain manufactures. Our costs depend on the
prices that manufacturers charge us. The volumes sold are generally much smaller than the
parts volumes for desktop computers, therefore a higher cost. Some of these parts are discontinued and very hard
to find, since manufacturers do not make them anymore. They are all machine specific and
they can not be replaced with generic parts. Many manufacturers raise prices on
replacement parts to motivate customers to buy a whole new laptop.

10. How can I get the most out of my battery?
We recommend that you do not use the battery when you have available AC power. Each
battery is rated for a limited number of charge-discharge cycles.
Avoid dropping the batteries, do not use any improvised chargers other than the ones sold
by us or the manufacturers. Excessive heat or cold can also damage a battery.
